PROTRANZ EX-BRITISH MILITARY TRUCK, EQUIPPED WITH A 16,000 LITRE WATER TANK, IS THE FIRST TO MAKE IT TO KAIKOURA POST EARTHQUAKE

November 2019

The first man to reach Kaikoura through the Inland Rd after Monday's earthquake is now driving the only truck making round-the-clock trips to replenish the town's water supply.
Gerard Daldry's giant ex-British military truck is equipped with a 16,000 litre tank and is the only vehicle going to and from the Kaikoura reservoir, which has been restored to a limited supply.
People in the town appear blown away by Daldry's work, Stuff's interview was interrupted by two women stopping to give him a hug.

NO ORDINARY EARTH MOVER

June 2019

Protranz has Earthmoving in its name, but is able to turn its hand to all sorts of odd and unusual facets of heavy transport.
These include the development and building of rural fire tenders and five-axle tippers, creating custom carting frames for large concrete blocks and making specialised bins for asbestos removal.
Remarkably, they even built their own remote-controlled excavators. And, at the other end of the technology scale, they restore modern classic trucks – some of which are then used in frontline duties
